Goa News: Cyclist dies in collision with scooter
Margao: A cyclist, Yashwant Redkar, lost his life after colliding with a scooter in front of Alfia Mini Mart in Curtorim in a fatal accident. The scooter driver and the person sitting behind were also injured in this incident.
Yashwant Redkar, a resident of Rumdamol-Daworlim Housing Board, was taken to Goa Medical College Hospital, Bambolim, where he died of injuries sustained in the accident, he said. PSI Prafulla Giri.
The two-wheeler rider involved in the accident has been identified as Clifford D’Costa, a 44-year-old employee of a private company, resident of Guirdolim. While driving from the Housing Board towards Guirdolim, D’Costa collided with the cyclist, resulting in injuries to him and his 19-year-old pillion rider, Clancy D’Costa.
Both the scooter driver and the pillion rider are currently admitted to South Goa District Hospital for treatment.
Police have registered an offense against Clifford D’Costa under sections 279, 337 and 304 A of the IPC. The charges relate to rash and negligent driving, causing the death of the cyclist. Police officials visited the accident spot, conducted a panchnama and later removed the scooter and bicycle from the spot. The vehicles are now kept at the Maina-Curtorim Police Station premises.
