Gold worth Rs 20 lakh seized at Mangaluru International Airport

Mangaluru: Customs officials at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) have seized gold worth Rs 20 lakh being smuggled in kheer mix packets from a passenger arriving from Dubai. The seized gold weighs 347 grams and is of 24 carat purity, worth Rs 20 lakh, a Customs department release said here on Monday. The passenger had come from Dubai on an Air India Express flight on Friday. His check-in baggage contained five packets of ‘Kitchen Treasures’ brand kheer mix. Upon suspicion, the officials opened the packets and found gold hidden in them.
