Gold worth Rs 52 lakh seized in Raipur Railway Station, Railway Police handed it over to Income Tax Department
Raipur: In view of the security of the upcoming assembly elections-2023, a compaction checking campaign is being conducted by the Railway Protection Force in small and big stations. This campaign is being run to stop anti-social elements from smuggling/transporting illegal weapons, explosive substances, cash, liquor, narcotics, bullion (gold-silver etc.) etc. through rail.
In the same sequence, officers and soldiers of RPF Post Raipur, Mandal Task Team, SIB and CIB Raipur along with the officers and soldiers of the railway station Raipur during checking of platforms and trains at platform no. On 05/06, near coach number B-2 of train no. 18029 Kurla Shalimar Express at Durg Chhor, a person named Avinash Aggarwal, father Bhagirathi Aggarwal, age-41 years, resident- House No. 162, Ward No. 12, Jhul Kadam. On checking a black colored trolley bag and a red black colored pitthu bag kept near the main road, tehsil and police station power, district power (Chhattisgarh), jewelery made of gold (about 590 grams) was found in it. , Mangal Sutra, Necklace, Locket, Ring, Chaun, Ring, Bracelet, Nose Ring, Earring etc. and Silver Jewellery, Anklet, Bracelet, Kada, Bichiya, Idol, Coin etc., the estimated price of all the items is around Rs. 52, 76,660/- (Fifty-two lakhs, seventy-six thousand, six hundred and sixty rupees) was found, in respect of which no valid documents/bills were presented by him.
On which this was informed to the State Tax Commissioner by the post in-charge Raipur. The State Tax Commissioner prepared a seizure letter for the gold and silver jewelery and seized the said property and handed it over to the Railway Protection Force Post, Raipur under the responsibility of keeping it safe for further legal proceedings.
