Government doctor demands fees for prescription in Soro, Balasore

Soro: In a shocking incident, a government doctor in Odisha has been caught on camera as he refused to give a prescription because of non-payment of fees. This has been reported from Gopalpur Community Health Center (CHC) in Bahanaga block of Balasore district in Odisha.

The video of the entire incident has gone viral and has been widely shared on social media platforms. It is seen in the video that, the doctor refused to give prescription if the patient refuses to pay fees. The complaint of the incident of the Government doctor demanding fees in Balasore has been made to the Chief Minister and the health minister, said reports. Thousands of locals in Bahanaga and Remuna blocks depend on this CHC for their medical needs.

It is worth mentioning here that time and again, the government has tried to maintain and better the health services in the semi-urban areas yet these incidents are a major set-back in this regard. People who are financially not strong generally depend on Government healthcare facilities and such incident are truly unfortunate. The government doctor demanded fees in Balasore on video, though he should be treating the patients completely free of cost.

Further, no reaction has been obtained from the doctor in this regard. An investigation has been launched in this regard. Detailed reports awaited.
