Government is harassing farmers in the name of urea app: Former Minister Vemula

Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS MLA Vemula Prashanth Reddy said that the Congress government is harassing farmers in the name of urea app. Speaking in the Assembly on Tuesday, he explained the difficulties faced by farmers for urea. He said that 50 percent of farmers in the state do not have smartphones, and even among the 50 percent who have smartphones, 50 percent do not know how to use the app.
Vemula Prashanth Reddy said that a total of 75 percent of farmers are facing problems with the urea app. He said that they all have to go to the service centers and book urea. Then they have to go another day to get urea. He said that two days of time are being wasted for the farmers. He also brought to the attention of the Speaker that no more than 5 bags of urea are being given at a time.
He said that a farmer who has planted maize in three to four acres has to travel for urea for a total of six days in three phases, two days each. He said that since urea is being provided at only one center in the mandal, farmers in many villages have to travel long distances. Therefore, urea centers should be set up not only in one place but in more places in the mandal. He said that the limit of 5 bags per phase should be lifted and all the urea required for the crop planted by the farmer should be provided at once.
