Governor gives green signal to ‘North East on Wheels’
Guwahati: Governor Gulab Chand Kataria flagged off Season 2 of North East on Wheels bike campaign. It was organized by Amazing Namaste Foundation at Raj Bhavan on Friday. “North East on Wheels” with a total of 45 bikers from different parts of the country has participated in this campaign. They will complete the 40,000 kilometer journey in two groups named “Falcon” and “Myna”, passing through about 20 districts of the three north-eastern states of Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland. This campaign will promote the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative of the Ministry of Tourism. The riders will also give the message of road safety. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kataria said, “The north-eastern region of the country is very beautiful and full of diversity with many tribal groups. The language, dialect and culture of most of these communities is also different. Despite differences, people live together here, which symbolizes the spirit of unity in diversity.” The Governor also said that this program will also help in fulfilling the objective of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”. This initiative will connect people living in different parts of the country thereby strengthening the bond of unity in the country. The Governor appreciated the Amazing Namaste Foundation and wished them a safe journey. He also hoped that during his campaign he would experience and appreciate the warmth of the people of the Northeast and the unique beauty and culture of the region, a press release said.
