Grapes in Delhi-NCR from October 1, but permission to run diesel generators till December 31

Noida: Grape system will be implemented in Delhi NCR from October 1 and restrictions will be imposed in four phases. Earlier there was a ban on running diesel generators, but now the Tourism Ministry has given permission to run diesel generator sets of all capacities and categories from October 1 to December 31 in the entire NCR including Delhi. Permission is granted as a one-time exception before grep is implemented. The Air Quality Management Commission has taken this decision for emergency services with certain conditions. Now the operators of DJ sets being used in emergency services and residential societies will be allowed to run them during this period with the conditions of pollution control.
The Air Quality Commission has said that from January 1 next year, only retrofitted and specially designed DJ sets that reduce air pollution will be able to run. Every year, the entire NCR including Delhi has to face the brunt of air pollution from October to December and DG sets are also a major reason for that. Who have got the exemption? The Commission has clarified that this DG set applies to units involved in the manufacturing of lifts, escalators, travelators, medical services, hospitals, nursing homes, health care facilities, life-saving medical equipment and medicines in various residential and commercial buildings. , Railway services, railway stations, trains and stations including metro rail and MTRS services, airports, inter-state bus terminals, sewage treatment plants, water pumping stations, projects of national security and national importance, telecommunication and IT data services. And there will be exemption in use of DG sets in other listed emergency services.
7 hotspots have been created in Gautam Budh Nagar and it will be implemented in four phases. This time seven areas have been kept in the category of hot spots by the Regional Pollution Control Department. Among these, Yamuna Pushta and Pushta Road are in the dust blowing area from the road. The areas of Sector-115, Sector-116, Sector-150, Dadri Road, Noida Greater Noida Expressway Sector-125, Amity University and Seven To prevent air pollution, GRAP will be implemented in the district from October 1. This time the restrictions imposed under Grape will be more strict than before.
There will be restrictions if the air quality index goes above 200. The first phase of restrictions is for air quality index 201 to 300. During this period, the traffic police will conduct a campaign against diesel and petrol vehicles that have completed their expiry date. The second phase of restrictions is for air quality index from 301 to 400. A campaign to stop pollution will be run at the identified hot spots. The third phase of restrictions will range from 401 to 450 air quality index. During this period, petrol four wheelers of BS 3 standards and diesel four wheelers of BS 4 standards will be banned. In the fourth phase of restrictions, the air quality index will be above 450. During this period, only those vehicles which are registered outside NCR will be exempted.
Apart from this, electric, CNG or BS-6 standard vehicles will also get exemption. Regional Pollution Control Officer Utsav Sharma says that restrictions on increase in air quality index under GREP will be implemented in four phases like last year. Most of the restrictions are the same as last time. There is a possibility of increase in pollution in Sector-62 area due to fire in the garbage dump near Ghazipur site in Delhi. According to the department, this time due to flood in Yamuna, mud has accumulated in the areas adjacent to Pushta. Which is enough to increase the level of pollution. Grade Response Action Plan (GRAPE) is being implemented from October 1, bringing relief and problems in DG set relaxations. In this, some relief has been given in the arrangements for DJ sets till 31st December. However, this is inadequate for entrepreneurs and society residents. Giving some relief to entrepreneurs from dual technology in DG sets, permission has been given to run diesel generators, but this relief has been given only to one category. This will be implemented on DJ sets of 800 kW and above, whereas for DG sets of 125 to 800 kW, it is necessary to have dual fuel mode. Apart from this, the facility of this option will be provided through registered vendors. At the same time, it is mandatory for DG sets ranging from 19 kW to 125 kW to have dual fuel mode.
