Gujarat court rejects anticipatory bail of businessman in liquor smuggling case
Canacona: In another blow for Canacona-based businessman Ligorio D’Souza, Gujarat court has rejected his anticipatory bail plea in a liquor smuggling case.
The Bhachau sessions court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Ligorio, who was booked earlier in a similar case. Gujarat Police has registered a case against him under the stringent Prohibition Act, holding him responsible for liquor smuggling in the dry BJP-run state.
Interestingly, the local court had earlier rejected his anticipatory bail plea in another case but he managed to get partial relief in the Gujarat High Court.
While accepting his anticipatory bail application, the High Court had asked him to appear before the investigating officer at Samhiyali police station on December 7.
Gujarat Police has launched a large-scale investigation into an interstate smuggling racket after huge quantities of liquor were found in a truck registered in Maharashtra.
During the investigation, the investigating officer focused on Ligorio, who was allegedly the main supplier of alcohol. gujarat police
