Gujarat: More than 10 mm of rain in 34 taluks, 565 teams engaged in survey, government will announce package

The damage caused to agriculture and horticulture crops in the state due to unseasonal rains was discussed in the meeting of the Council of Ministers held in Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Giving details of the discussion held in the meeting, Spokesperson Minister Hrishikesh Patel said that due to unseasonal rains in the month of March last, crop damage has been reported in 2785 villages of 64 talukas of 15 districts. Detailed survey work was carried out by a total of 565 survey teams covering the districts of Junagadh, Amreli, Kutch, Patan, Sabarkantha, Ahmedabad, Tapi, Rajkot, Banaskantha, Surat, Botad, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Aravalli and Bharuch

Giving information about the survey, the spokesperson said that the state government has completed the survey in 1,99,951 hectares of affected area in 15 districts. The affected area of agricultural crops is 1,83,121 hectares and that of horticultural crops is 16,830 hectares. An area of 42,210 hectares is damaged by 33 percent or more. In which 30,895 hectares of agriculture crops and 11,315 hectares of horticulture crops have been damaged. As per the rules of the State Disaster Response Fund, assistance will be considered for the farmers who have suffered more than 33 percent damage in the state. From last date 4-3-2023 to 24-3-2023, 198 talukas of 30 districts received rainfall ranging from 1 mm to 47 mm. More than 10 mm of rain was recorded in 34 talukas of 10 districts.

One jetting machine will be available in each district

After discussion in the cabinet meeting, Spokesperson Minister Hrishikesh Patel has said that necessary instructions have been given to provide one jetting machine in each district of the state. The government has taken steps to provide jetting machines in all the districts of the state, which are very useful in cleaning work. At present, the jetting machine has been started in 20 districts of the state by the Rural Development Commissioner’s Office. The government has made arrangements to make the machines available in other districts of the state soon.
