Hamirpur: 1,331 will get foster care benefits
Himachal Pradesh: Addressing the District Level Committee meeting of Palan-Poshan Yojana here yesterday, Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh said that 1,331 children of the district will get foster care and 77 more children will be added as beneficiaries. He informed that 1,254 children of the district are already included in this scheme. The Deputy Commissioner said that as per the government proposal, these children will get Rs. 4,000 every month till the age of 18 years.
He said that apart from orphan children, the beneficiaries also include those children whose parents are suffering from serious life-threatening diseases or are unable to raise children due to physical or financial condition. He said that children of widows or single women are also eligible to be included in the Palan-Poshan Yojana. He said that this scheme has been started to ensure proper upbringing, care, rehabilitation, protection, treatment, development and education of these children living with their families as per various provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. He directed the officials to widely publicise the scheme so that all children suffering from adverse circumstances can avail the benefits of the scheme.
