‘Har Ghar Sakora Campaign’ launched to promote bird welfare
Lucknow/Gonda: Gonda district administration in Uttar Pradesh has started a unique initiative linking elections with bird welfare programme. The district administration has launched ‘Har Ghar Sakora Campaign’ on the occasion of National Pet Day on 11th April.
Under this campaign, earthen pots decorated with voter awareness slogans are being installed across the city. The purpose of these slogans imprinted on Sakoras (water bowls) is not only to motivate voters to participate in the elections but also to provide nutrition and hydration to the birds.
The district administration is trying to connect both birds and voters by installing more number of Sakoras in urban and rural areas. District Magistrate Neha Sharma said that traditional earthen pots (Sakuras) decorated with voter awareness messages are being installed on trees in urban areas. Are.
These Sakores are designed to attract sparrows, parrots, cuckoos, munias and other birds, providing them with water and grains to reduce their hunger and thirst during summers. Neha Sharma further informed that this program is linked with the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program of the Election Commission. This initiative works to encourage the efforts of potters and local artists engaged in making clay toys.Sharma has directed all department officials to put up “Sakuras” to display voter awareness slogans around their offices and homes. The aim of this initiative is to increase the voting percentage in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
