Health Inspector Recruitment: Irregularities at only one centre – SC informed

Tamil Nadu: The Medical Staff Selection Board informed the Madurai Bench of the Chennai High Court on Thursday that no irregularities were found in the written examination for the post of Health Inspector except at one centre.
Kathir Joyson, a resident of Vilavancode area in Kanyakumari district, filed a petition in the Madurai Bench of the Chennai High Court:
The written examination for 1,429 vacant posts of Health Inspector in the Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare Department was held on December 7th. Several irregularities were found in the examination. Candidates were allowed to use mobile phones freely in the examination centre, which was recorded by the centre’s surveillance cameras. Therefore, he demanded that this illegal examination be cancelled and a re-examination be ordered.
The High Court, which had already heard the petition, had placed an interim stay on the appointment of Health Inspectors.
As such, the matter came up for hearing again on Thursday before High Court Judge P. Pugazhendhi.
At that time, the counter-petition filed by the Medical Staff Selection Board Administrative Officer stated:
The exam was conducted smoothly as per the election board’s rules. Surveillance cameras at all exam centers were checked. Of these, only one college exam center in Pudukkottai was found to have four candidates using mobile phones to interfere.
Subsequently, the Medical Officer Selection Board filed a complaint with the Valladirakottai police station in Pudukkottai district, demanding criminal action against these candidates and two invigilators. An explanation was also sought for the banning of the four candidates from participating in the government service exam. It was stated that no irregularities were found at any other exam center in the state.
Following this, the judge issued an order: The hearing of this case is postponed until the 24th. The judge directed that the health inspector not issue appointment orders until then.
