Hearing on Saumya Chourasiya’s bail plea
Raipur: After the hearing on the bail plea of suspended Deputy Secretary Saumya Chourasiya, who is jailed in the coal levy scam of more than Rs 450 crore, the judge has reserved the decision. The decision will probably come after lunch break. Dr. Saurabh Kumar Pandey is pleading on behalf of ACB and Bilaspur HC lawyers Harshvardhan Parghaniya, Faizal Rizvi are pleading on behalf of the defense. The hearing on the bail plea was in the court of First ADJ ACB/EOW.
The defense, while presenting its case in the court, said that citing the letter of EOW on the previous judicial remand date, EOW itself did not state the need to keep the accused in judicial remand in its submitted letter. Also, there is no evidence of misuse of position anywhere in the FIRs of ED and EOW.
The defence gave the example of a young man roaming around closely with the Prime Minister in Kashmir and said that the person who misused the position of the Prime Minister was arrested and not the Prime Minister. Apart from this, several judgments of several courts and high courts were presented and requested for bail. The EOW opposed the matter and the debate went on for about an hour. The court reserved its decision on the bail plea.
