Heavy rain likely in many states
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in the eastern and northeastern region of the country in the coming days. It also states that there will be an increase in rains over Northwest India between August 2-3.
Light to moderate and heavy rains are also likely over Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi from July 30 to August 3. “Moderate to fairly widespread rain with isolated heavy rain very likely over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh during next five days,” the IMD said.
In East India, light to moderate rainfall is likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during July 30 to August 3. In the Northeast, moderate to heavy rain is very likely over the region during the next five days. It added, “Arunachal Pradesh is also likely to receive heavy rains on August 2-3. Similar conditions will occur over Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during August 1-3.”
According to IMD, heavy rains are likely to continue over West India with moderate rain over Goa and Maharashtra over the next five days. It said, “In South India, moderate to scattered rain with isolated heavy falls very likely over Telangana on August 1 and Coastal Karnataka on August 2 and 3.”
