Heavy rains continue in Madhya Pradesh, 13 gates of Bargi and 13 gates of Tawa Dam opened
Bhopal. Heavy rains have been continuing in Madhya Pradesh for the last three days. It is raining heavily intermittently everywhere. It has been raining in most of the districts of the state including Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, Indore since Friday morning. Due to rise in the water level of Narmada, seven gates of Bargi Dam in Jabalpur had to be opened at 12 noon, while 13 gates of Tawa Dam were opened in the evening.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to the system formed in the Bay of Bengal, there is heavy rain across the state. Drizzling rain has been continuing in Bhopal since Friday morning. Apart from this, it is raining heavily in other parts of the state also. For the first time this season in Narmadapuram, all the 13 gates of Tawa Dam have been opened up to 20-20 feet. 4,08,265 cusecs of water is being released from these gates. Due to this, the water level at Sethani Ghat will increase rapidly by late evening. This can cause waterlogging in low-lying areas. It is raining heavily in Narmadapuram since morning. Many areas are flooded with two-three feet of water. At the same time, due to the spate of Wainganga river, five gates of Sanjay Sarovar Dam have been opened.
Due to heavy rains the road caved in at Salangtola in Paraswara. Due to this, Balaghat district lost contact with Seoni. More than 24 kutcha houses have collapsed in rural areas due to the spate in the Mahakari river of the district. Here Home Guard and SDERF teams are engaged in the rescue operation. The villagers have been kept in the community hall and panchayat buildings of the village. The administration has canceled the paper of the quarterly examination on board pattern to be held on Friday.

Parsdoh Dam in-charge Shiv Kumar Nagle said that 294 cumec is being released from it. Only 15 cm is left in the dam full tank level. Due to water on a culvert in Multai, a person named Jeevan Barangay (50) was washed away in the drain. People searched for him, but no trace of him was found. Many residential areas of Multai have been flooded.
Heavy rains are continuing in Chhindwara for about 10 hours. Rivers and drains are in spate. SDO Chaudhary of Pench Project said that due to the rise in the water level of the river, all the eight gates of Machagora Dam have been opened. By opening them up to 34%, 3800 cubic meters of water is being released. Due to rising water level of Pench river, alert has been issued in Chand area.
At the same time, a young man named Dilip was washed away due to the overflowing drain in Saunsar. Police is searching for the young man. A young man was washed away while crossing the river in Tamiya. Its video has surfaced. In this, the young man was trying to cross the bridge slowly despite there being water on it. After covering half the way the young man got swept away and fell under the bridge. Local people saved the youth from drowning and admitted him to the hospital, where he is being treated.
Vedprakash Singh, senior meteorologist of Bhopal Science Center, said that the low pressure area is active around the North Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Odisha coast. There is also a psyconic circulation system. It is likely to move towards Odisha and Chhattisgarh in the next two days. At the same time, the monsoon trough line is passing towards south-east via Bikaner, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Jamshedpur. Due to this, there is a period of heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh. This system will remain active till 18th September. After this the new system will become active again, which will remain till 24th September.
