High Court seeks response from Union Home Ministry on Bangladeshi infiltration in Jharkhand

Ranchi (IANS) | The Jharkhand High Court, while hearing a petition seeking a ban on Bangladeshi infiltration in the state, has sought response from the Union Home Ministry. The court has asked the Home Ministry to explain how Bangladeshi infiltrators are entering the border area of Jharkhand.

This petition has been filed on behalf of a person named Daniel Danish. A division bench headed by Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra heard the matter on Wednesday. The court has fixed the next hearing of the matter on July 19, giving four weeks time to the Ministry of Home Affairs to respond in this matter. Advocate Prashant Pallav pleaded the matter on behalf of the Central Government.

The petition filed by the applicant states that a large number of Bangladeshi infiltrators are coming from the border areas of Jharkhand such as Jamtara, Pakur, Godda and Sahebganj. This is having a bad effect on the population in these districts. A large number of madrassas are being built in these districts, while matrimonial relations are being established with tribals by people of Bangladeshi origin. The applicant has demanded that the Ministry of Home Affairs should explain how Bangladeshi infiltrators are coming in these areas and because of them the demography of the area is changing.
