Himachal: MP Sports Maha Kumbh begins in Sujanpur of Naidun
Himachal Pradesh: On the initiative of former Union Minister Anurag Thakur, Sansad Khel Mahakumbh was organised in Sujanpur and Naidun assembly constituencies yesterday. In the first phase, sports competitions will be held at block and district level, followed by championships of various sports including kabaddi, wrestling, volleyball and basketball at parliamentary constituency level. Former minister Virender Kanwar inaugurated the event in Sujanpur, while cricketer Rishi Dhawan inaugurated the event in Naidun. Speaking on the occasion, Rishi Dhawan praised Anurag Thakur for encouraging the youth of Himachal Pradesh to participate in sports.
Virender Kanwar in Sujanpur said that Khel Mahakumbh is a boon for those players of rural areas who have passion for sports but do not get any platform to showcase their talent. Kapil Mohan, coordinator of the sports event, said that 52 teams were registered in Kabaddi in Sujanpur and eight matches were played. He informed that the Kabaddi teams of Majhog Sultani, St Sai, Kot, Chabutra-4, Karot, Chabutra-3, Government Senior Secondary School Sujanpur and Chauri have reached the second round. He informed that the winners will be given cash prizes, in which the winner will be given Rs 11,000, the runner-up will be given Rs 5,100 and the team coming in third place will be given Rs 3,100. District BJP President Rakesh Thakur and former MLA Vijay Agnihotri were also present on this occasion.
