Himachal: Paragliding World Cup concluded in Bir-Billing
Himachal Pradesh: Town and Country Planning, Housing, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani distributed prizes to the winners of the Paragliding World Cup concluded at Bir-Billing today. Dharmani, who was the chief guest at the closing ceremony, was accompanied by Chief Parliamentary Secretary of Animal Husbandry, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department Kishori Lal. Describing the organization of the World Cup in Bir-Billing as a matter of pride for the state, Dharmani said that it has been possible only with the special cooperation of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and the state government. He said that the Bir Paragliding Association (BPA) deserves congratulations for successfully organizing the event without any major accident. He thanked all the foreign pilots from across the world who participated in the competition.
He said that Himachal Pradesh is full of sightseeing places and the government is giving special emphasis on strengthening the tourism infrastructure in the state. He said that an announcement has already been made to make Kangra district the tourism capital of the state. He said that the zoo at Bankhandi, expansion of Kangra airport and construction of world class golf course will boost tourism in Kangra district. Dharmani said that on the lines of Govind Sagar lake, water sports and adventure tourism will also be started at Pong dam in Kangra district. He said that the state government is promoting religious and adventure tourism in the state to attract domestic and international tourists. He said that the Chief Minister was also supposed to attend the closing ceremony but could not come due to his pre-scheduled programs in Delhi. He said that the Chief Minister has assured all possible help to BPA.
