Himachal: Rs 5.91 crore more released for disaster affected people

Himachal Pradesh: The state government has released additional grants of Rs 5.91 crore to be distributed among the disaster affected people of Shimla district who suffered heavy losses during monsoon last year. DC Anupam Kashyap informed here today that an amount of Rs 5,91,73,991 has been released to the Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) of Jubbal, Rohru, Rampur, Theog, Shimla Rural, Kumarsain and Kotkhai. Financial assistance will be provided to 1,015 left out affected people under this package. This includes compensation for 28 fully damaged houses, 427 partially damaged houses, 240 damaged Gaushalas, total crop, land and shops loss to 320 persons. Last year during the disaster, special relief package was issued to the affected people by the state government. Under this, some affected people were left out in the district and now additional grants have been released to them. The affected people can get information from their respective sub-divisional magistrate or tehsil office and after completing all the formalities, grants will be released for the affected people. Under the special relief package issued by the state government, assistance has been provided to 2,235 affected people in Shimla district. Last year, assistance was provided to 389 houses completely damaged, 1,551 houses partially damaged and 289 people for damage to agriculture, livestock and land. An amount of Rs 22 crore has been allocated under the relief package in the district.
The state government had announced a special relief package of Rs 4,500 crore for the victims of the natural disaster caused by heavy rains in the year 2023. Under this, the compensation amount available under the Disaster Relief Rules was increased by up to 25 times. To deal with the disaster, the state government had released a total package of Rs 4,500 crore. Under this package, 3500 people whose houses were completely damaged in the disaster are being given a compensation of Rs 7 lakh instead of Rs 1.30 lakh. Apart from this, a provision has been made to provide 25 times more compensation i.e. Rs 1 lakh instead of Rs 4000 in case of partial damage to a kutcha house and 15.5 times more compensation i.e. Rs 1 lakh instead of Rs 6500 in case of partial damage to a pucca house.
