He said: “Hip-hop is a montage. It’s made up of many cultures and communities and it’s one of the greatest art forms of all time. It’s become the epic center of pop culture, whether it’s sneaker culture or street Art is all about hip-hop. In the 1980s, everyone thought hip-hop was a subculture that would lose its luster.”
He added: “Not only is the genre being reshaped, but it is reshaping other aspects as well. Social, political, economic, educational and culture systems – hip-hop has influenced all of these areas, As it’s evolved. In hip-hop when someone does it, it becomes a trend.”
He shares his thoughts on what makes hip hop extraordinary. Musicians say that it helps to find yourself.
The rapper said, “Hip-hop inspires you to be who you are, leaving aside the outer aspects. I think hip-hop helps me in trying to find myself because the culture says you have to be authentic.” The genre is so flexible that any artist can be whatever they want to be.”
He said that hip-hop can be political, fun-loving, emotional or poetic and can be very relevant and authentic at its core.
What do you think about the future of hip hop in India?
Badshah said, “The future of hip hop is in India. Indian hip hop music is no longer regional or underground and we are on the way to a revolution.”
Was it hard for everyone to understand what kind of music you are making or want to make?
Badshah admits it was extremely difficult.
“When I was growing up, it was extremely difficult to think because I was from a middle-class background. But music gave me the courage to dream and I didn’t care much about what others felt because it was almost hip Felt like hop. It was in me.”
“Today, when something has changed, I want to be the first person to perform a concert on the moon. I was the first artist to shoot a music video on top of the O2 Arena in England. In my early days, it was hard for me to say that I may have started at a very low level, but hip hop was a tough test for me.”
