Home Minister Vijay Sharma met ITI students
Raipur: Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma today inspected Adarsh ITI located at Koni in Bilaspur district. Currently about 1200 students are studying in 33 different trades in it. Sharma inspected various branches and interacted with the children studying. He also held a meeting of officials regarding the development of this institute.
Deputy Chief Minister Sharma said that after taking advice from the public representatives, he also gave instructions to prepare an action plan to restore the dignity of this ancient institute. On this occasion, MLA Sushant Shukla, District Panchayat President Arun Singh Chauhan and Collector Avneesh Sharan along with other officials and public representatives were present.
During the inspection, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that one more hostel needs to be built for the convenience of the children. At present, there are only two hostel facilities for 125 students, which is insufficient. He also directed to start mess facility in both these hostels. He also told about the need to open new trades as per the demand of the time. He also asked to send a proposal to the Directorate to close those trades in which employment and job prospects have closed.
The ITI is currently spread over 60 acres of land. The income of the institute can be increased by converting some part of it for commercial purpose. Sharma said that since it is known as the first ITI of Asia, efforts should be made to preserve it as a heritage building. He also gave instructions to clean the campus of the institute.
