Hyderabad: In another shocking incident, a five-year-old boy got injured in an attack by a stray dog in Hyderabad. The horrific scene of the dog pouncing on the child and biting him was captured in the CCTV camera.
The incident took place two days ago in Tappachabutara area of the city. A video clip shared widely on social media on Friday shows a child walking behind his mother. Suddenly a stray dog pounced on the child and the child fell on the ground. Hearing his scream the woman ran to save him. After this the dog tried to attack the woman, but a person present nearby drove it away.
The boy suffered deep wounds on his face and neck. The family has reportedly spent Rs 3 lakh on the child’s surgery. This incident has spread anger among people on social media. Netizens criticized the municipal authorities for failing to stop the dog menace despite several incidents. At least four children have lost their lives and several others have been injured in stray dog attacks across Telangana this year. On February 19, a four-year-old boy was killed by a pack of stray dogs in Hyderabad. The heart-wrenching incident took place at a car servicing centre, where the boy’s father worked as a watchman.
Following the incident, municipal authorities had announced several measures to curb the menace of stray dogs, but citizens say the measures had no impact on the ground. In March, a five-year-old boy died of rabies in Khammam district. He was bitten by stray dogs and later developed symptoms of rabies. On May 19, an eight-year-old boy was killed by a pack of stray dogs near Kazipet railway station in Hanamkonda. The victim was the son of a migrant laborer from Uttar Pradesh.
