According to experts, if you are taking birth control pills to balance hormones and regularize periods in PCOD, then it can cause many harms to the body. This is not the right way to manage PCOD. Birth control pills contain high amounts of estrogen. Due to which there is a risk of clots formation in women. Pills cause differences in the levels of estrogen and progesterone. Due to which insulin sensitivity is affected. It increases insulin resistance by reducing insulin sensitivity. This also affects women’s sexual desire or sex drive. The synthetic hormones in the pills and the reduced levels of testosterone hormone have an effect on libido i.e. sex drive. These pills reduce the value of Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Folic Acid, Magnesium and Zinc. Imbalance of nutrients can lead to weight gain, fluid retention, mood swings and depression. The increase in estrogen increases the growth of yeast in the gut, which leads to the growth of Candida (a species of yeast) and makes you crave sugar and carbs more. Adopt these methods to manage PCOD To manage PCOD, instead of taking birth control pills, changes in diet and lifestyle should be made. You should not skip breakfast at all. Apart from this, attention should also be paid to controlling weight. Broccoli, sunflower seeds, green moong dal and fenugreek tea are good to manage the symptoms of PCOD. Apart from this, it is also important to get complete sleep and stay away from stress. Additionally, you should also avoid smoking and drinking.
