Hundreds of applications came to the department for facilities from across the state
Shimla. 234 new bus routes identified by the Transport Department across the state will be allotted this week. Hundreds of applications were received from the Transport Department for new bus routes. After the sorting process of applications, the list of route allotment can now be released on the website of the Transport Department this week.
It is noteworthy that to provide new bus routes to the unemployed youth of Himachal Pradesh, the department had identified 234 new bus routes. For these, the department had invited online applications from interested youth. The list of these routes was also available on the website of the Transport Department. Out of 234 routes identified by the Transport Department, 26 routes are for electric buses. All remaining routes are of non-electric buses. Department officials say that among these routes, 107 bus routes will be provided to HRTC. The remaining other routes will be provided to private bus operators. Apart from the routes available through HRTC, 72 routes have been identified in rural areas.
18 seater buses will run on these routes. 29 routes are for buses with more than 31 seats. Of these, 14 routes have been identified in Solan, five routes in Nalagarh, nine routes in Hamirpur and one route in Shimla. The government has notified six green corridors in the state. Electric buses will be run in these. These buses will have more than 42 seats.
The Transport Department is going to start automatic number plate recognition system soon at 12 barriers in the state. Work for this has started. HPSEDC has been given the work to install this system. After the launch of this system, the number plates of buses and taxis coming from outside states will be automatically scanned. By scanning the number plate, the transport department will get information whether the tax has been paid by the taxi or bus operators or not.
