Husband sentenced to 10 years in woman’s death case
Korba. Troubled by her husband’s harassment for not having a child in Kusmunda’s Gevra Basti, a woman committed suicide by setting herself on fire. In the case, the court sentenced the accused husband to 10 years imprisonment. Santosh Kumar Ratre, a resident of Barpali Mohalla Gevra Basti under Kusmunda police station, was married to Dhankumari Ratre two years before the incident. She was tortured for not having children after marriage. Distressed by fighting and fighting, Dhankumari had set herself on fire two years ago by sprinkling kerosene on herself.
This was the reason of his death. In the case, on the report of Girdhari Lal, the father of the deceased, the Kusmunda police had registered an offense of abetment to suicide against the accused husband Santosh Kumar. The matter was sub-judice in the court of First Additional District and Sessions Judge, Katghora. Where, during the hearing, Additional Public Prosecutor Ashok Kumar Anand, appearing on behalf of the government, kept the evidence firmly. On conviction, the court judge Wenceslas Toppo sentenced the accused husband to 10 years rigorous imprisonment. Along with this, he was also punished with a fine of Rs.
