Hyderabad: As the festive fervor of Sankranti approaches, a fascinating custom has taken hold among the women of Telangana, especially Hyderabad. Videos have gone viral that show a strange practice in which a mother with one son wears bangles on both her hands, it is believed that after taking money from a mother with two sons. The purpose of the underlying belief is to ward off bad luck and bestow good fortune on only children. This tradition has led to an increase in the number of women visiting Brazil’s shops, leading to a significant increase in demand. “This trend has gained strength and women share their experiences on social networks. Many others are adopting them for the welfare and prosperity of their children”, said a woman, highlighting the widespread adoption of this practice. “In our culture, it is important to follow traditions that generate positivity and well-being. This custom may seem a bit traditional, but there is nothing wrong in observing these three blessings for your loved ones”, said Rajyalakshmi from Santoshnagar. Makar Sankranti is an important festival celebrated in various regions of India, which has great cultural significance. It is estimated that it will be celebrated on 14th January and it marks the beginning of Uttarayan period. During Makar Sankranti devotees pay homage to Lord Sol, offer prayers and express gratitude. Apart from this, devotees also worship Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, emphasizing the spiritual significance of this day. Many other women also expressed similar sentiments and highlighted the emotional value of customs and traditions. “It is a way of respecting our culture and heritage. If these are blessings to our family, why don’t we accept them?” Usha of Bholakpur said. Owners of bangle shops confirmed the increase in demand and attributed it to this new practice that has attracted the attention of many women ahead of the next festival.
