Hyderabad: Interstate drug smuggling racket busted, 2 people arrested with hash oil
Hyderabad: An interstate drug smuggling racket was busted here and two smugglers were arrested for allegedly transporting hash oil worth over Rs one crore, police said on Monday. Rachakonda Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu said in a release that two drug smugglers involved in transporting hash oil from Visakhapatnam to Bengaluru via Hyderabad were arrested and 13.5 kg of hash oil was seized from them. The accused persons are cousins and natives of Andhra Pradesh, who are farmers. Police said that both of them got involved in the illegal drug trade to earn easy money.
The accused were procuring hash oil from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and selling it in Bengaluru via Hyderabad, police said. Recently, the receiver from Bengaluru ordered 14 kg of hash oil and accordingly both the accused procured hash oil and came to the outskirts of Hyderabad on the evening of August 11. While they were waiting for the receiver at a hotel near Peddamberpet village, the Special Operations Team (SoT) officials in LB Nagar along with Hayat Nagar police in a coordinated operation nabbed the duo and seized 13.5 kg of hashish oil, the release said.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act-1985. The main receiver is absconding and efforts are on to nab the absconding accused, police said. It was revealed that about 35 to 40 kg of ganja is used to make one kg of hashish oil and about 560 kg of ganja was used for 13.5 kg of hashish oil (which was seized in this case), the release said.
