Hyderabad: Keeping an eye on the Lok Sabha elections, Amit Shah will attend the BJP meeting in Telangana on Thursday
HYDERABAD: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend a state meeting of the BJP on Thursday and will discuss his plans for the general elections to be held in a few months. This is Shah’s first visit to the state after the recently concluded assembly elections in which the African Party got “disappointing” results, though it may improve its account in terms of votes and polls. The BJP, which at some point emerged as BRS’s major rival after winning the partial elections and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections ahead of the November 30 assembly elections, ultimately ended up doubling its percentage. The votes were about 14 percent. Apart from improving its account, it got eight seats in the 119-member House. The issue of BJP legislature party leader may come up in the meeting. According to sources, the party will continue the debate on “Vikit Bharat Sankalp Yatra” to ensure the Ram temple in Ayodhya and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s determination and guarantee to fulfill the dreams of the common man. Union minister and Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy had recently expressed confidence that the party will get double digit votes in the Lok Sabha elections. In the last elections of 2019, it got four seats in Telangana with 19 percent votes. Apart from Shah, party presidents and national leaders like BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh, Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Sunil Bansal will attend Thursday’s meeting. BJP sources said that in the meeting, an action plan for the next 90 days will be prepared with the aim of being fully prepared for the elections. Reddy had said that although the party did not get the expected results in the recent assembly elections in Telangana, the number of seats increased and the vote percentage doubled. In the 2018 assembly elections, BJP got 6.8 percent votes and only one seat. However, according to Reddy, after 100 days, in the Lok Sabha elections, the Azafran Party got four seats with 19 percent of the votes.
