Hyderabad News: One person died in a bomb blast planted by Maoists
Hyderabad: A person was killed on Monday when a suspected bomb planted by Maoists exploded in a forest in Telangana’s Mulugu district.The incident took place near Kongala Village in Wazedu Mandal of the district bordering Chhattisgarh. A group of five people had gone to the hill to collect firewood. One of them stepped on a suspected bomb hidden by Maoists, which exploded. He died on the spot.
The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Yellandula Yesu, a resident of Jagannathpuram village. Four others panicked and fled and informed the villagers.On receiving information, police personnel reached the forest. He warned the villagers not to go to the spot due to the possibility of landmines being planted by the Maoists in the area.The police became alert over the suspected presence of Maoists in the area and launched a search operation.The Hyderabad police are on high alert in areas bordering Chhattisgarh in view of the increased activity of Maoists in the neighbouring state.In the last decade, the police have successfully contained Maoist activities in Telangana by maintaining a strict vigil in the districts bordering Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
