HYDERABAD: Swecha releases AI model for storytelling in Telugu
Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based organization – Swecha – released ‘AI Chandamama Kathalu’, a first-of-its-kind artificial intelligence model built exclusively for storytelling in Telugu. Chandamama Kathalu is a children’s story loved by all Telugu speaking people, inculcating moral values across generations. The team at Swecha shared that the AI project aims to use a new and creative approach to bring back the moral values inherent in these stories.
To develop this AI model, the team digitized over 40,000 stories and proofread the digitized copies with the help of 10,000 students and faculty members in engineering colleges. The organization said the database of these stories is available online to the public and anyone can download it or make amendments. Svecha founder Y Kiran Chandra says it is “a logical step in our journey towards democratization of technology.”
Unlike other large language models like ChatGPT, ‘AI Chandamama Kathalu’ does not work with large amounts of raw text extracted from the web. The team used a smaller language model to create a story-oriented AI, making it less expensive and more accessible to people as anyone can prompt in Telugu and access a children’s story in Telugu.
