Hyderabad: Youth arrested for chain snatching

Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police (GRP), Secunderabad, along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Thursday arrested a youth for committing the crime of chain snatching. A gold chain weighing 15 grams was recovered.

The name of the arrested person is Chaudhary. Veeraraghavulu Akash (23), a food delivery executive from New Bhoiguda, Secunderabad. He was involved in five chain snatching crimes.

According to the police, Akash is a college dropout and had started working as a food delivery executive for two years. Akash decides to commit crimes to meet his expensive expenses.

“He decided to target women traveling alone in trains and snatch their gold chains. Mahesh M Bhagwat, Additional Director General of Police, Railways and Road Safety, said he noticed female passengers sitting on the window side and when the trains departed from railway stations, he boarded them and snatched their gold chains.
