A woman left gold worth 1.5 crore rupees at the bank; police are conducting a thorough investigation.

Tamil Nadu: Police are investigating after 1.256 kg of gold jewelry was seized from a private bank in Velachery, Chennai, after a woman left it behind.
A private bank is located on 100 Feet Road in Velachery, Chennai. On the 5th of this month, a woman wearing a burqa came to the bank. She introduced herself to the bank staff as Chamila Banu and said that her husband, Abdul, had an account at the bank and that she also wanted to open an account there.
She also inquired about the bank’s safety deposit box facility. The bank employees asked her to wait for a while as the concerned officer was out. Afterward, the woman, who had gone to retrieve the necessary documents for opening a bank account, did not return for a long time.
Meanwhile, a bag was found lying on the seat where the woman had been sitting. Since the bag had been lying there for a considerable time without anyone claiming it, the bank employees became suspicious and picked it up and opened it. They discovered that it contained 1.256 kg of gold, worth Rs. 1.5 crore, including gold bars and a gold bracelet.
The employees immediately secured the bag and informed the bank’s head office. Subsequently, the bank’s audit team arrived and inspected the jewelry. It was confirmed that all the gold was genuine. No one came to the bank to claim the gold jewelry. Suspicious, the bank authorities handed it over to the Velachery police station and filed a complaint on Tuesday.
Based on the complaint, the police have launched an investigation. The first step was to review and examine the footage recorded by the surveillance cameras. The police are facing difficulty identifying the woman who left the jewelry at the bank because she was wearing a mask. However, the police are investigating from various angles, including who the woman was and why she did not return to claim the jewelry.
