IDBI Bank branch manager arrested: IDBI Bank branch manager arrested on fraud charges
Nabarangpur: Nabarangpur Town Police today arrested the branch manager of IDBI Bank’s Nabarangpur branch on charges of fraud of Rs 1 crore and sent him to court. The accused has been identified as Anjan Satpathy, Nabarangpur IDBI Bank branch manager.
After learning about the fraud, IDBI Bank Deputy General Manager (DGM) Swaroop Dutta had registered a case at Nabarangapur Town police station. In his complaint, Dutta had alleged that Anjan Satpathy had taken Rs 1 crore from the bank’s safe on December 1 and December 2 and said that he would deposit the money in the currency chest of SBI (State Bank of India). However, he had not deposited the cash.
The matter came to light during an inspection on December 15, after which bank employees informed Dutta about the shortfall of Rs 1 crore. Later Dutta went to Nabarangpur branch of IDBI Bank and investigated the matter. After this he lodged a complaint with the police.
Based on his complaint, Nabarangpur Town Police registered a case under number 523/23 and detained Anjan Satpathy for questioning. During interrogation, after coming to know about his involvement in fraud, the police arrested Anjan Satpathy and sent him to the court.
