‘Illegal cash and material worth Rs 29 crore 81 lakh seized in 24 hours’ ‘335 crore seized so far in the code of conduct’

Jaipur/Sriganganagar ,In the last one day’s action taken by various enforcement agencies in coordination with the Election Department, illegal cash and illegal materials worth more than Rs 29 crore 81 have been seized. Since the implementation of the Code of Conduct for the Assembly General Elections 2023, seizures worth Rs 335 crore have been made in the state.
Chief Electoral Officer Shri Praveen Gupta said that the transportation of illegal cash, illegal liquor, precious metals and other materials is being closely monitored by various agencies including Police, Excise Department, Income Tax Department, Custom Department, State GST in the state so that these Cannot be used to influence the electoral process. He said that compared to the last assembly elections, an increase of 476 percent has been recorded in seizures.
Shri Gupta said that Jaipur district stands first in the case of seizure of illegal cash with about Rs 10 crore. Illegal cash worth Rs 6 crore 11 lakh has been seized in Sikar district, Rs 5 crore 94 lakh in Udaipur district, more than Rs 3 crore 41 lakh in Bharatpur district and Rs 3 crore 11 lakh in Ajmer district. Maximum amount of illegal liquor, 4 lakh 38 thousand 946 liters worth Rs 5 crore 12 lakh, has been seized in Alwar district. Maximum drugs worth Rs 10 crore 94 lakh have been seized in Bhilwara district. Precious metals including gold and silver worth Rs 11 crore 65 lakh have been seized in Banswara and gold and silver worth Rs 9 crore 8 lakh in Jaipur.
Shri Gupta said that till now illegal cash worth Rs 55 crore 23 lakh, illicit liquor worth Rs 26 crore 50 lakh, drugs worth Rs 63 crore 31 lakh and precious metals worth Rs 44 crore 34 lakh have been seized in the state.
