The report of economic survey based on caste wise census in Bihar has also been presented. Many shocking figures have also come out in this report presented in the Assembly and a large population of dominant castes is living below the poverty line. According to the report, the highest number of poor among the upper castes is in the Bhumihar community, where 27.58 percent people are poor. Apart from this, if we talk about backward people, there is a large number of poor among the Yadav community with their number being 35 percent.
In Kushwaha community, 34 percent people are poor and among Kurmis, 29 percent are below poverty line. The poorest of the backward are the barbers, whose 38 percent population is living on less than Rs 6000. According to the report, there are 33.58 percent poor families in the extremely backward class. There are 42.93 percent poor families in Scheduled Castes and 42.70 percent families in Scheduled Tribes are stuck in the quagmire of poverty.
Apart from this, most of the poor in the state are from Musahar community. 54 percent of the people of this community are living in poverty. Now if we talk about the extremely backward class, maximum 38 percent of the barbers in it are poor. On the second place is Nonia, in which 35 percent people are poor. Apart from this, 34 percent population of Kahar, Dhanuk and Mallah communities is also poor. 33 percent potters, 29.87 percent oilmen and around 33 percent Kanu are also living below the poverty line.
