In Modi surname case, Assam Congress leader said – Court taught a tough lesson to BJP
Guwahati (IANS). Assam Congress President Bhupen Bora launched a scathing attack on the BJP on Saturday after the Supreme Court granted relief to Rahul Gandhi in the Modi surname defamation case. Bora said that the court’s stay order on Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in the defamation case has taught a befitting lesson to the saffron party.
Assam Congress president Bhupen Bora claimed that Rahul Gandhi had exposed the nexus between high-profile industrialist Gautam Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this made the BJP desperate to throw him out of Parliament.
Bhupen Bora said, “There is no doubt that the BJP was plotting against Rahul Gandhi. BJP was very uncomfortable and scared when our leader spoke on Adani issue in Parliament. The ruling party has used every trick to stop Rahul Gandhi from speaking the truth. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned him for more than 62 hours.
According to the Assam Congress leader, the court’s decision has taught a tough lesson to the BJP. Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Assembly Debabrata Saikia said, “We have said from the beginning that the BJP has conspired against Rahul Gandhi to keep him away from Parliament. He has not insulted any community at all. He has only Talked about three thieves with Modi surname.
Saikia said, “A Gujarat court sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years in a defamation case. His membership of Parliament was suspended for the same thing, but on what basis he was given the maximum punishment in the defamation case, the Supreme Court has questioned it.
