Inauguration ceremony of National Handloom Week-2023 – Handloom products of the state are getting world class recognition
Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot said that the handloom products of the state reflect the culture, heritage and history of the state. Handloom and Khadi played an important role in the freedom struggle as well. For the first time such event is being organized in the state to give world class recognition to these products and to give them a better platform.
Shri Gehlot was addressing the inauguration ceremony of National Handloom Week-2023 through video conference at Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday. He said that the state government is working with commitment to increase the income of handloom artisans and for their upliftment. In this sequence, a provision was made in the MSME Policy-2022 that this type of event would be organized every year. With this, buyers will be attracted towards the handloom products of the state at the national and international level. Along with this, various products of handloom weavers and Khadi of the state will be encouraged. He said that here handicraftsmen and artisans from different states of the country would be able to exhibit and sell their artefacts. This event will prove to be a better opportunity from the point of view of marketing.
Better marketing through positive policies
The Chief Minister said that Rajasthan’s first Handicrafts Policy-2022 has been issued for the upliftment of handicrafts and handloom sector products and artisans associated with them. With this, better marketing for the upliftment of artisans and weavers, revival of traditional and extinct arts, making products exportable and international recognition, ensuring participation of artisans and weavers in the development of the state and creating new employment opportunities. would be possible. With this policy, about 50 thousand new employment opportunities will be created in the handloom sector in the state.
Industrial development increasing investment, employment
Shri Gehlot said that in the last four and a half years, the state government has done excellent work related to industrial development, more investment and employment and self-employment. Our policies and schemes are being praised all over the country. He said that under the Rajasthan Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Act (DDM.BJ), the free period from registration approvals and inspections has been increased from 3 years to 5 years. Decisions like One Stop Shop, RIPS-2019, RIPS-2022, Mukhya Mantri Laghu Udyog Protsahan Yojana will have far-reaching results in the interest of the state.
State’s GDP will be Rs 15 lakh crore
The Chief Minister said that despite the Kovid-19 epidemic and adverse economic conditions, the state’s economic growth rate with 11.04 percent is second in the country. He said that the state’s GDP has increased by Rs 6 lakh crore in the last four years. The result of the excellent economic management of the state government is that the total GDP of the state will soon be Rs 15 lakh crore. Shri Gehlot said that RIICO industrial areas are being established in every block of the state, due to which employment opportunities will be created at the local level itself. Various policies including EV, solar, wind, hybrid energy, agro business, tourism, eco tourism, rural tourism are being implemented by the state government. Rajasthan Industrial Security Force (RISF) has also been constituted for the security of industrial institutions.
State government committed for the upliftment of weavers
Industries and Commerce Minister Smt. Shakuntala Rawat said that about 85 percent of the population of weavers are from scheduled castes and minority communities. For their upliftment, many schemes and programs are being run by the Government’s Industries and Commerce Department, Rajasthan Handloom Development Corporation, Weavers Association, Khadi Board, Ruda etc. Vishwakarma Kamgar Kalyan Yojana-2023 has been implemented by the state government. Under this, financial assistance is being provided to women, workers, handicraftsmen, artisans of hair art, clay art and 1 lakh youth of nomadic class to start their own employment.
National Handloom Week-2023
Additional Chief Secretary Industries, Smt. Veenu Gupta said that direct purchasing companies, buying agents, retailer associations, national and international level marketing companies will be involved in the National Handloom Week-2023 for permanent marketing arrangements for handloom and khadi products in the state. has been invited. In this, 80 stalls are being set up, in which 70 stalls will sell and display the state’s khadi and handloom products and 10 stalls will display excellent products of weavers from other states. He said that during the National Handloom Week, along with buyer-seller meet, exhibition, theme pavilion, talk show, quiz competition, workshop and seminar, a ‘fashion show’ would also be organized at the Rajasthan International Centre.
