Increase in flight cancellations at RGIA due to impact of Cyclone Michong
Hyderabad: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) also faced disruptions and cancellations on Tuesday due to the impact of Cyclone Michoon on the schedule of flights departing and arriving from the airport.
Adverse meteorological conditions caused by the cyclone led to the cancellation of a large number of journeys, especially the routes between Tirupati, various parts of Andhra Pradesh and Chennai.
According to the last information available on the official website of GMR International Airport Hyderabad, the number of canceled national flights reached 25 departures and 34 arrivals as of Tuesday midnight. This unprecedented increase in cancellations has caused inconvenience to many passengers.
The Chennai route was the most affected by these cancellations, with 20 flights cancelled, followed by the Tirupati route with around 14 flights cancelled. Additionally, the routes to Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry faced nine cancellations each.
