Indore: Another girl dies in Bal Ashray Grih, death toll rises to 11
Indore: A three-year-old girl from an ashram in Indore has died during treatment in a hospital. This ashram came into the news after the death of 10 children after the spread of cholera. An official gave this information on Tuesday. With this, 11 children of the ashram have died in the last one and a half months. Superintendent of the Government Chacha Nehru Children’s Hospital here, Dr. Preeti Malpani said that the family of the girl from Shri Yugpurush Dham Children’s Ashram had admitted her to the children’s hospital in a very critical condition on August 3. He said, “The girl had vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration.” Dr. Malpani said that despite all the efforts of the doctors, the condition of the girl did not improve and she died on Monday night. He told that the girl was already suffering from malnutrition and disability. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The hospital superintendent said that the Ashram Management has claimed that they have recently handed over the girl to her family. According to officials, the administration’s investigation report recently indicated that 10 children died in the last one and a half months after cholera spread in the ashram. The investigation conducted by a high-level committee constituted by the administration also revealed overcrowding of children in the ashram, lack of proper maintenance of medical records of children and other irregularities in the maintenance of the institution.
