Inflation reduced but the price of food plate increased wildly
Common people are not getting relief from inflation. The retail inflation rate was just coming down that the prices of many other vegetables including tomatoes have started touching the sky. Along with this, the prices of spices also increased. The effect of this was that in the last two months, the food plate of the people has become very expensive. Prices started increasing since 2 months
According to a report by Crisil Market Intelligence and Analytics, the prices of food plates were continuously declining for a long time, but since the last two months their prices have started increasing again. This trend is visible in both veg and non-veg cases. According to the report, since October last year, the prices of veg and non-veg thali were continuously declining, but during May and June 2023, their prices were seen increasing.

According to the Crisil report, in April 2023, the average price of veg thali was Rs 25.1 per plate. In June 2023, it increased to Rs 26.3 per plate. Similarly, the price of non-veg thali increased from Rs 58.3 per plate in April to Rs 60 per plate in June. Crisil says that due to the increase in the prices of tomatoes, pulses and cereals, the food plate is getting expensive.

According to official data, tomato prices have increased by Rs 60 to Rs 100 per kg since the beginning of June. In the beginning of June, the retail prices of tomatoes in Delhi were Rs 20 per kg, which increased to Rs 110 per kg in the first week of July. Similarly, the retail prices of tomatoes in Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata have now gone up to Rs 100 to 150 per kg.
Increased prices of pulses and cereals
Apart from tomatoes, the prices of chillies are also making records. Along with these, the prices of hot spices including cumin and black pepper are also running very hot. According to the Crisil report, the prices of pulses have also increased in the month of June. According to the report, the prices of Arhar and Chana Dal have increased by 3-3 percent in the month of June. During this, the price of wheat has increased by 9 percent.
