Instructions to state police to ensure maintenance of law and order during election campaign

Shillong, April 12: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Preston Tynsong has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to ensure that law and order is maintained during the election campaigns of political parties for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Held on 19 April.

Tynsong said, “We have directed the DGP as well as the SPs and DCs of all the districts to remain active in view of the election campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 19, so that law and order can be maintained. ” From reporters.

He said that this direction has been given after the recent incidents, which is not good as people are trying to disrupt the political campaigns of other political parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections.

“Therefore, we have given strict instructions to the DGP and all district administrations will take note of this and monitor the situation of each political campaign. This is what we have done to ensure peaceful elections,” Tynsong said.
“I hope that the political campaign will be conducted peacefully without any untoward incident,” he said.
