International Mother Language Day celebrated widely
On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, a colorful rally took place in Agartala on Wednesday on various routes of the city.
The colorful rally started from the Agartala Town Hall premises, which was organized as a joint initiative of the Department of Education, Information and Culture and the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission Office.
Let it be known that on 21 February 1999, the United Nations had declared this day as International Mother Language Day.
The theme of International Mother Language Day this year is “Multilingual Education as a Pillar of Intergenerational Education”.
Special Secretary of Education Department Ravel Hemendra Kumar, Director of SCERT Nripendra Chandra Sharma, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh Arif Mohammad and Director of Information and Culture Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya participated in this colorful rally.
Besides, Indian and Bangladeshi artists, writers, intellectuals, school, college, university students, cadets of Nehru Yuva Kendra, NCC, NSS, teachers and representatives of various voluntary organizations participated in the rally wearing tableaux, placards and traditional clothes.
The rally started from the Agartala Town Hall complex and ended at the Town Hall complex after circumambulating various routes of the capital.
