International Wetland Day celebrated at THB College in Bishwanath Chariyali
Jamugurihat: On the occasion of World Wetland Day-2024, a one-day program was organized at the Department of Zoology, THB College in support of Assam Zoological Society THB College Branch and Assam Science Society Biswanath Chariyali Branch on Friday.
On this occasion, an awareness meeting was organized which was presided over by Dr. Bipul Kumar Bora, Chairman of the Governing Body. Manisha Das explained the objectives of the meeting, which was presided over by the college principal, Dr. Ajit Hazarika.
Dr. Sanjib Upadhyay, Assistant Professor, THB College and Secretary, Assam Science Society Biswanath Chariyali Branch, delivered an awareness lecture on the main topic, “Wetlands and Human Wellbeing”. He has deeply highlighted the historical aspects of this day and the importance of wetlands on human life.
In the presidential address, Dr. Bipul Kumar Bora gave a thoughtful lecture on the ecological importance of wetlands. Dr. Ajit Hazarika also gave an in-depth lecture on wetland degradation and the role played by the young generation. Thusharika Bora, Assistant Professor, THB College, moderated the event, which was attended by over 150 students and teaching faculty of the college.
