In this century, the peace-building missions being carried out under the supervision of the UN Peacebuilding Commission of the United Nations have greatly strengthened peace efforts in the world.

This thesis of Singh is based on the peace efforts of the United Nations, especially peace-building. This will help in increasing the understanding of peace efforts which is a new area. It is worth mentioning that India is firmly committed to assisting the United Nations in maintaining international peace and security and is the third largest contributor in the world to peacekeeping forces working in various countries. Since 1950, we have participated in 49 peace missions and have contributed about 2 lakh peacekeepers. Senior Indian police and military officers participate in peace missions. This research paper of Shri Singh will prove to be very useful for foreign policy policy makers, practitioners and students. It will help in increasing the understanding of the elements necessary to establish permanent peace even in violence-affected areas within the country.
