Tel Aviv: Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan said the Ayatollah-led Islamic Republic of Iran is the one that ties together all the elements of destruction in the Middle East.
He was addressing an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on the Houthi threat in the Red Sea.
The meeting was initiated by the United States following a series of attacks by the Houthis against ships in the area.
In his speech, Ambassador Erdan said, “The Houthis’ attacks on maritime trade are not just an escalation nor are they a spillover. It didn’t magically happen on its own. “This reality is a glimpse of the bleak future for the region and the entire world if action is not taken.”
He said, “This is the beginning of a chaotic Middle East that will push the rest of the world into chaos.”
Ambassador Erdan added, “Colleges, this is certainly not an ‘Israeli problem’. This is not even a ‘Middle East problem’. This is a global problem… The complete closure of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait would cost the global economy more than $6 billion per day.’
He also said that the UN Security Council has already recognized the Houthis as a terrorist group and now it is time to implement sanctions against them and all those who provide them with arms and money.
“It is time for this council to address the radioactive Shiite elephant in the room,” he said. The Ayatollah regime is the one thing that ties together all the elements of destruction in the Middle East… The Ayatollah’s strategy is to stand in the shadows, pulling the strings of his terror-proxy puppets.
In an aggressive speech he said, “The Houthis, terrorists from one of the poorest countries in the world, would certainly not have ballistic missiles and explosive drones without Iranian arms supplies and they would not have the ability to detect and target ships.” There won’t be capacity.” Iranian intelligence supplied in real time.
He said it was time to expose this to the world and take action, adding, “This could be the council’s shining moment when it tackles the real threat to the Middle East.”
