This incident, which took place on August 27, was captured on camera. The incident came to light in Ambivali, when police attempted to arrest history-sheeter Firoz Faiyaz Khan, but faced strong opposition from the local people. The mob pelted stones at the police to prevent the arrest. The situation became so dire that the police had to hastily push the captured criminal into a school van, which had arrived as backup, to ensure his custody.
Firoz Faiyaz Khan is accused of committing criminal crimes by impersonating a policeman. On August 10, Khan, posing as a police officer, stopped a man coming out of a bank with cash. On the pretext of getting his bag checked for drugs, he distracted her and stole Rs 1 lakh in cash. Police said Khan then fled in an autorickshaw. A crime branch officer of Mumbai Police said, “If one person comes to know that someone has been arrested, the message spreads like wildfire and hundreds of people gather to release the caught criminal from our custody. Becomes.”
