Irate over his failed attempt to rape minor niece, man attacks her father with arrow in Odisha

Baripada: Irate over failed attempt to rape his minor niece, a man reportedly attacked her father with an arrow at Hatigoda village under Thakurmunda police station limits of Mayurbhanj district yesterday.

The minor girl was reportedly alone in the house when one Radhesyam Badhia of the village, who is said to be her relative uncle, entered the residence and attempted to rape her.

Soon, the girl’s mother, who was at some distance, reached the house after she raised an alarm and attempted to catch Radhesyam. But he managed to escape from the spot by his bicycle.

Later in the evening, when the girl’s father returned home after his work, her mother narrated him the incident. Angry over the development, he went in search of Radhesyam with an aim to teach him a lesion. However, the accused attacked him with a bow and arrow.

The girl’s father who sustained grievous injuries on his left-hand was taken to the Thakurmunda Hospital for treatment. Later, he filed a complaint at the Thakurmunda Police Station seeking action against Radhesyam.

Based on the complaint, cops have started a probe into the matter.
