IT raid, Rs 11 crore cash found in SBI Titlagarh
Titlagarh: After three days of raids (still ongoing) at multiple locations in Odisha, Income Tax officials have detected Rs 11 crore in cash in the main SBI branch of Titlagarh linked to Odisha Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu.
The tax department has deployed around 50 big and small machines for counting currency notes and more department and bank staff have been brought in to complete the counting process.
₹11 crore in cash consists of ₹500, ₹200 and ₹100 notes, and the entire counting process is likely to be completed by tomorrow, said the Deputy General Manager of Sambalpur SBI.
A 5-member IT analysis team has reached Bolangir from Hyderabad today and started investigation. Experts have conducted investigations at Sudapada and Titilagarh manufacturing units. A team also visited Bolangir SBI branch where the recovered cash is being counted.
About 19 bags have been seized from the house of a manager working at Sudapada Distillery Unit in Bolangir district. The seized money was kept in several bags and taken to the SBI branch in Balangir in a pickup van amid tight security for counting.
Earlier, 156 bags filled with cash were seized from the Sudapada distillery unit and taken to the nearest branch of State Bank of India for counting.
