ITI officer suspended for misusing allowances, scholarships of SC, ST students
Maharashtra Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha on Friday announced the suspension of employees of an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Wardha district for alleged unfair appropriation of assignments and scholarships for students belonging to caste communities (SC). and tribes (ST).
The issue was raised by opposition leader in the Legislative Council and Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Ambadas Danve as well as BJP MLCs Uma Khapre and Ramdas Ambatkar.
It said the alleged misappropriation took place between 2018 and 2023 in an ITI in Selu in Wardha district.
Lodha, Minister of State for Skills and Entrepreneurship Development, informed the Council that an inquiry committee has submitted a report revealing that subsidies for materials and scholarships are effectively discouraging students who have bank accounts.
In light of these findings, the government suspended officials responsible for improper appropriation of subsidies and taxes over the course of six years.
