Jagannath temple will be made plastic and polythene free
Puri: The latest development in the restrictions on the arrival of devotees in Jagannath temple of Puri is the ban on plastic and polythene.
The Chief Administrator of Jagannath Temple urged devotees and various Nizos to carry flowers or offerings in baskets. He urged people to use bamboo baskets or cotton bags.
He further said that people will be made aware about the new rules through social media and many other mass communication mediums. This will help in making the Jagannath temple complex clean.
Further, it is noteworthy that, from January 1, 2024, no paan or gutkha will be allowed in the Puri Jagannath Temple premises. Strict action will be taken against tobacco consumers and heavy fines will be imposed. There will be a complete ban on paan or gutkha from January 1.
It is noteworthy that the dress code will also come into effect from the same date. No person can neither eat paan-gutkha nor spit inside the Dargah. No servant, policeman, devotee etc. can eat paan or gutkha inside the temple.
Obscene clothing will also be banned in Puri Jagannath Temple from January 1, 2024.
